meet the Owner
Hi! I'm Ricki-Ann.
My background and where I've always started in any company I've worked for is Accounting. As an employee, I would do what is essentially the same in each company, numbers. But knowing numbers was a small piece of who and what I could do. Once I did my job with the numbers, I'd learn how they're company operated and I'd move right over to the operation side of the company.
By knowing and understanding the accounting with the operation side of the business, I would always show the owner how we could improve what we were doing to make things more efficient and profitable. I've worked in many different types of industries over the years and always have seemed to do the same thing, and that is help a business go to the next level.
I started Business By Design after working with my husband. He owns and operates a design, print, and wrap shop and a lot of small businesses would come in knowing how to do their craft or sell their product but all the other things that goes into owning a company, they were lost or unsure of. I started to just help people here and there, give little tips, tell them a different way of going about things, etc. Then it became a side job and now an actual business. I have always had a
passion in helping people and I found a way to do that with my knowledge and expertise.
Prior to starting Business By Design, some of the industries I've worked as a working employee are:● A Boat Dealership (3 different
stores) ● An international food company ● A private school ● An air conditioning company ● A telecommunication's company ● A promotional items company... and that's just to name a few.
I was an employee but treated each place as if it were my own. I know how the employee feels, how the owner feels, and how we can come together to make the company work at it's best.
Every company I've ever started to work for through Business By Design or as an employee would say "This industry is different" and they are right to a point. Every business needs structure, every business has accounting, every business needs a particular way to run and over the years I've been able to learn how to attack the way to get that done properly regardless of the industry. So even though every industry might be different there are still common factors and we can help regardless of the industry.
